Mindful Leader

Mark 8: 31-38.  We have gotten the WayBack Machine and traveled to Flossenburg, Germany in 1945.  It is April 9.  The readings are a collection of thoughts by Bonhoeffer, or about Bonhoeffer by others.  I have a "script" if one wishes to see which is which.  mantuan@frii.com.  

The sermon is drawn from Mark 16: 1-8.  I like the short ending.  It is quite rich.  Jesus is not there?  Say what?  It works for me for some reason.  Big ideas were (1) Who will roll away the stone, (2) Who, me?  and (3) Who isn't a little afraid?  

Marilyn White helped me with some of the "order".  I had the ending illustration earlier in the service.  It clearly worked better here.  

Drawn from Mark 10: 17-31.  I chose to not deal with the eye of the needle/camel thing.  Jesus is not focused on that.  This is in fact, a rich text, and there are about 20 sermons for me in this.   

This sermon is drawn from Mark 9: 30-37.  Fear and humility seemed to me to be the two dominant themes in this text.  

This is a sermon from Mark 9: 14-29 and it is for the second Sunday of Lent.  We have been watching/discussing The Way along our way, and I do show a brief excerpt from the movie where a Priest tells Tom that of course he believes in miracles, it is his job after all.  This sermon has a twin focus of belief (faith) and prayer.  

The sermon is from Mark 6: 6b to 13 but in reality, it is as much on Mark 6: 1 - 6a as it is 6b to 13.  

The Way frames the discussion to some degree.  Here we have "Jack from Ireland" that I play with a little ... the scene is about "the road" and his concern he may be on "the wrong road."  

The text is Mark 9: 2-9.  This particular sermon is from our 9:00 AM service.  We go to mountaintops to be refreshed and draw energy but we live in the valleys.  Mountaintops sustain us for our valley experiences.  

This was the wrap up/finish up on my "What Would Jesus Say About ...".  

The Scouts -- Boy, Cub and Venture -- gave me an excellent illustration point to invite people to go deeper in their faith journeys.  This started off six weeks ago as a planned evangelism reflection, and it ended up being a sermon on growing as disciples.  Funny how God does that.  

Micha 6: 6-8 was the scripture.  Being Purple was about being non-political, or being an equal opportunity abuser of both parties.  Justice, Kindness and Humility.
